Roger N. Ruckman, M.D., is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1970. His residency in pediatrics was at Medical Center Hospital of Vermont followed by Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Ruckman served as an attending cardiologist at Children’s national Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University where he is now Professor Emeritus. His research interests have included basic science investigations of environmental factors that influence heart development and their contributions to congenital heart disease. He has also participated in clinical studies in many areas of pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Dr. Ruckman’s daughter, Karen Ruckman Lindsay, was born with VCFS before genetic testing was available. As she has grown into adulthood, she and Dr. Ruckman have shared a family mission to help other children and families touched by VCFS. This includes both cardiac issues, but also overall health and positive visions for the future. Karen Ruckman Lindsay is also a member of the Virtual Center’s team of experts and serves as a valuable member of our team. We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Roger Ruckman to our staff of experts.
